They are recommending 2 doses of vaccine for children under age 10. The reason is that this age group did not build a strong enough immunity with just one dose. However,  one injection does provide about 80% protection. I would watch as  they may even change the recommendation and limit it to only one.

Great information.  I am sharing your blog with lots of my friends.  You are right - there is so much misinformation out there.  We are part of the Mariemont School District and they provided vaccinations last Friday.  Both of my daughters got the vaccine and I am so glad they did!  Since they are both 9, they are due to go back for their second round in November.  I have not seen a lot of information on the reasoning for two rounds of vaccine.  Will they not be fully protected until the receive the second round of vaccine?  Is it possible they could contract H1N1 during this waiting period?</description>
