Allergies Again? Avoid Top Allergy Mistakes

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Millions suffer from allergies, yet most have not figured out how to properly treat them. We wait until our head feels like it will explode and dredge up every kind of medication searching for a fix, while cursing the doctor for not giving us an antibiotic. Even if we get an antibiotic, it still takes at least 3 weeks before we feel better. I made many allergy mistakes but have not taken an antibiotic for years because I finally figured out how to treat the main cause instead of a Band-Aid that never seems to stick.

Take this test if you are not sure if you have allergies or a cold that comes up every spring.

“Mr” Dr. Deb on Foot Pain in Runners

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

Today, I played stylist/entourage for my other half, “Mr” Dr. Deb, (Robert Raines, MD)  who took my place on Fox 19 to talk about Foot Pain in runners.  This weekend is the annual Heart Mini Marathon and the Cincinnati Flying Pig is right around the corner so many runners will suffer pain while training. He talked about the 3 most common types of foot pain and stretching that will treat most pain. I will embed the video this afternoon to show the stretching but here is his contact information if you need a premiere foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon!

Don’t Let it Fester: Acne can End in Suicide

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

My shelves are full of anti-acne creams as my twin boys are 12 and just starting to struggle with the burden of blemishes. Many share in this rite of passage but some get severe acne, and that is when a nuisance becomes a risk factor for suicide.

A recent study showed teen girls with severe acne had twice the suicidal ideation compared to those with little acne and boys had 3xs that amount. They were also twice as likely to have no close friends, never to had a romantic relationship and not thrive at school.

Serious stuff starting from a little thing, so let’s first tackle the problem of treating the acne then go into warning signs for suicide.
